Question Categories

Question Categories

Use this page to group questions into clear categories or themes. That keeps a growing question library easier to search and reuse.

Why categories matter

They help you:

  • group questions by purpose
  • separate quiz and survey structures
  • make large question libraries easier to search and reuse

What you see on the screen

  • search
  • Reload
  • Create
  • the category list
  • name, code, parent, and created columns
  • Edit and Delete

The form is usually simple:

  • name
  • code
  • description
  • parent category

When should you use parent and child categories?

Use hierarchy only when it clearly helps. For example:

  • parent: Instructor Evaluation
  • children: Method, Content, Interaction

If the data set is still small, keep the structure flat and easy to understand.

  1. Agree the shared category structure first.
  2. Keep codes short and stable.
  3. Create parent relationships only when truly necessary.
  4. Finalize categories before importing or creating large batches of questions.

Category vs Tag

  • use Category for the main official structure
  • use Tags for more flexible labels

You will use categories most often inside the Question Bank.
